Immigration Health Surcharge refund

In 2020, the Prime Minister announced that overseas health and care professionals working in the UK would be exempt from paying the Immigration Health Surcharge.  This was backdated for any period of leave to remain after 31 March 2020.

Doctors on the Medical Training Initiative have been able to claim a reimbursement in six-monthly arrears for themselves and any dependants since 1 October 2020.  However, doctors on the MTI and their dependants can now receive full reimbursements for any period from 31 March 2020.

In order to processyour refund, we need you to complete the online form so that we can supply your details to the Home Office.

If you have any queries, please email IHSrefund@aomrc.org.uk

NOTE: that the reimbursement will go directly to the bank account from which the IHS was paid. If you paid the IHS yourself, it will go back into your bank account.  If it was paid by your home country, the money will go into the account that paid the charge.
